How to Make Collage Papers

In my August 2024 blog post “5 Motivation Tips for Artists”, one of the tips suggested was making collage papers.

Making your own collage papers is a fun way to enhance your work by creating more depth and texture.

The collage papers will be more interesting if a variety of weighted papers are used such as cardboard, tissue paper, paper towels, printer paper, and watercolor paper.

Use an archival adhesive or acrylic gel medium to adhere the collage papers to your chosen substrate.

The medium used to create the designs on the collage papers should be waterproof.  I generally use acrylic paint,  and ink.  If charcoal or graphite is used, spray it with fixative to prevent smearing of design during the application process.
